About the course

The Caro-Kann Defense is a very popular opening in regard to openings where white plays 1.e4. There are many variations in the Caro-Kann, however the mainline arises from the moves 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5. After the move 2...d5, black is attacking white's central e-pawn. This position gains black interesting development prospects in combination with a superior pawn structure. In this course we will analyze the most common variations in the Caro-Kann Defense and discuss typical plans and ideas which every chess player should know. As the Caro-Kann Defense can many times transpose into a French Defense it is another reason to look at this opening.
